Brian Eno Urges Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A campaign is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.

The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a substantial amount for relief efforts.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a team of talented individuals. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a specific target,” a figure said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million won't make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
