No Kieran McKenna Celtic FC Talks as Bellamy Pledges to Welsh National Team
Ipswich's manager and Wales head coach have been connected with the Scottish champions manager position
Ipswich Town's their manager states he has had "no conversations" with Celtic about their coaching position, while Wales head coach the former striker is dedicated to seeing out his team's World Cup campaign.
Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Premiership title holders following Brendan Rodgers' resignation on the start of the week.
McKenna's Position on The Scottish Club
The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with the Championship side.
The mid-thirties took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the second division and they presently occupy 12th in England's second tier.
"There have been such discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland youth international said when asked about being on the candidate list.
"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any portion of my focus is currently.
"I possess a special job here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Everything outside of that hasn't reached my awareness."
Context and Agreement Aspects
Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.
"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about those. "It's unlikely all people has to publicly and announce what they used to be, but naturally it's a massive sports organization."
The coach signed a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.
"In every manager's contract, there are things," he replied. "I don't know what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!
"I approach this role like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I know that's not invariably going to be the case, but I'll always give maximum effort as long as I am here."
The Welsh Coach's Situation
The former striker represented Celtic on loan from Newcastle United in 2005, but the ex- Wales forward is minded to finish the ongoing global tournament campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the 46-year-old from assuming the Celtic job.
The Welsh squad are currently in third place in their World Cup group behind leaders Belgium and second-placed North Macedonia.
Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would secure their place in the final qualifying round, but they are all but assured of making those, thanks to a productive European competition performance, even if they fail to end up their group second place.
Considering his current stance, the Wales manager, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the qualifying matches at the earliest.
