Ought My Boyfriend Wear the Clothes I Buy for Him?

One Side's View: Her View

Whenever Axel fails to wear something I've presented him, I get disappointed. Buying presents is my method of showing I care

I truly appreciate selecting things for my partner, him. It relates to caring; I get excited each time I notice a piece that recalls him.

I particularly like to purchase him clothes – I feel it gives him a little self-esteem lift. Even though I already appreciate his sense of style, it's my method of demonstrating I care.

My income is a higher salary than him, so it's not significant to buy him presents. I realize not everyone demonstrate love through gifts, but since I am able to, why not?

Yet when he fails to wear a piece I've presented him, especially after I've given consideration into it, I feel hurt.

During summer, I purchased him a couple of jeans. However I saw he avoided wearing them, and asked if he enjoyed them.

He walked below the following day wearing them, saying: "Hello, I've got your pants on!" It left me experiencing silly.

It felt as if he was merely sporting them because I had inquired. To some extent felt happy, but conversely felt as if he was acting to quiet me.

I don't require him to sport everything right away or to demonstrate appreciation, but whenever weeks elapse and I never notice him putting on my gifts, I begin to question if he liked them in the beginning.

I want him to look his optimal – so, yes, I have opinions about what matches him.

Previously, I tried to discard his sandals. I hate them. My boyfriend got really annoyed. Maybe I crossed boundaries a somewhat.

He said I attempted to eliminate his identity, but I didn't. I just wished him to understand what I see: that he could look wonderful if he enhanced his outfits somewhat.

He has got wonderful fashion sense when he chooses to, and I get annoyed when he continues with the same few items out of custom.

I guess that's due to the fact that he lacks as much concern in style as I do and doesn't have as much funds to spend in his outfits.

But, from my viewpoint, sometimes it's not concerning the outfits at all; it's about wanting to feel that my gestures are recognized.

I love that my boyfriend is independent and strong-willed; it's part of what makes him him. But I furthermore wish he'd understand that when I purchase him gifts, I'm only trying to relate to him.

The Defence: His View

I have been single so considerably I'm unfamiliar with people getting me items – and I am uncomfortable with being told what to do

I think her tendency of purchasing me items and then growing upset when I fail to wear them is problematic.

Not anyone should be forced to wear a present each time the presenter wants. It reduces from the significance of a gift, which is supposed to be selfless.

Regarding the pants, I just didn't have around to wearing them since it was very sweltering this summer.

However when she asked if I liked them, I wore them the precise next day.

My girlfriend then blamed me of only wearing them to satisfy her, which was rather accurate. But my belief is: don't request me to sport a piece you purchased and then accuse me of not truly wanting to wear it.

None of that is logical.

I should be capable to select when to wear my clothes. My girlfriend is being quite sweet when she gets me gifts, but I prefer not to sensing compelled.

She stated I was thankless when I mentioned this, but it's genuinely not the case.

My girlfriend also receives a lot more income than me, and it is not a major concern for her to splurge on fresh pieces.

But I don't have that many garments, and I'm familiar with wearing the same old clothes. It takes me a bit of time to acclimate to having new things in my clothing collection.

I'm likewise unaccustomed to people getting me gifts, as this is my first relationship. There's likely also a bit of me behaving strong-willed.

When she attempted to remove my sandals, I didn't react favorably.

I genuinely like the denim she bought me, but sometimes if she has a great thought, my initial reaction is to reject to follow it, simply because I've been unattached for so extensively and I am uncomfortable with getting directions what to perform.

My girlfriend has also noted this tendency in me, and I know I should to work on it.

Nonetheless, another part of me doubts whether my girlfriend is purchasing me things because she's {trying|attempt
