Palestinian-American Youth Liberated Following 270 Days in Israel's Imprisonment

An American-Palestinian adolescent after completing a nine-month period in Israeli detention without being charged was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest in February within the occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, claims he consistently denied.

The US state department said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Currently aged sixteen, needed medical care right after being freed, relatives told the media.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"At this moment, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives urgent medical care necessary for his recovery after being subjected to mistreatment by authorities and inhumane conditions for months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to US authorities and President Donald Trump, urging greater action for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business from Florida, had earlier stated his son only confessed about rock throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him in detention through court documents.

He stayed absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities and murder.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, report instances of mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials succumbed to assault by radical settlers during a confrontation last July.

Mohammed and Sayfollah were employed together in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We demand US authorities to ensure our family's safety," the uncle stated.
