Six Suspects Apprehended After 12 Million Euro Robbery on Precious Metals Facility in the French Republic

Six armed perpetrators using military-grade weapons used explosive devices to breach the security of a gold refining laboratory located in Lyon, France, slightly injuring five employees during what appears to be the newest significant daylight theft to hit the nation.

The daring raid was carried out on Thursday afternoon, with officers rapidly detaining the suspected perpetrators and retrieving the loot estimated to be worth €12M (10.5 million pounds), as stated by authorities.

Five staff members of the gold refining company were slightly hurt from the blast, and three employees were transported to hospital for examination, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.

The suspects, thought to be career criminals, were taken into custody a brief time later in the adjacent municipality of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant involved in the raid was taken into custody as well, a police source indicated.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in a raid against a gold refining facility in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official stated online, praising officers for their “quick action, authority and management”.

High-caliber firearms, handguns and detonation devices were recovered as well.

The heist took place as law enforcement in France on that Thursday detained five further people, including a primary suspect, in connection with this month's brazen Louvre museum robbery.

Many investigative personnel have been hunting four perpetrators who used a vehicle with a hydraulic lift and cutting tools to breach a first-floor gallery at the prestigious institution on October 19th, escaping with ornaments assessed at around €88 million.

In a different significant robbery, robbers the previous month forced their way into the French capital's Natural History Museum, making off with gold samples worth over $1 million. A young Chinese female was apprehended in the current month in the city of Barcelona in connection with the break-in, according to legal authorities.

This series of robberies has raised concerns in France regarding inadequate security measures at cultural venues and other facilities housing valuable items.
