Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Healing from Light Wounds
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world offered sympathy for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
